Celtic sign Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer, reuniting him with Brendan Rodgers in a one-year deal after leaving Sevilla.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have officially completed the signing of Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer, following the mutual termination of his contract with Sevilla on deadline day.

The 28-year-old forward attracted interest from at least three clubs across Europe, but Celtic won the race for his signature. He has signed a one-year contract with the Glasgow giants, reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers, under whom he previously played at Leicester City.

Rodgers expressed confidence that Iheanacho’s arrival would add both experience and firepower to Celtic’s attack. “Kelechi is a proven goalscorer and someone I know very well. I am convinced he will make a big contribution this season,” the manager said.

Iheanacho joins Celtic as a direct replacement for Adam Idah, who left the club to join Swansea City for an undisclosed fee. His move is expected to bolster Celtic’s squad as they push for domestic dominance and European success.

The Nigerian forward had signed for Sevilla last summer but struggled to settle in Spain. He later went on loan to Middlesbrough in the English Championship, where he impressed with flashes of his quality.

Now, with a fresh challenge in Scotland, Iheanacho will look to revive his career and cement his place as a key player for the Bhoys in the 2025/26 season. Fans are eagerly anticipating his debut at Celtic Park, with hopes that his goal-scoring instincts will deliver immediate impact.
