Toronto – Ethiopian government forces have allegedly shot and killed two brothers who were reportedly working on their farm field in a location close to Azezo, Gondar, Amhara region of Ethiopia.

Local sources with links to the area say the victims were killed due to alleged “support for Fano forces” in the area. The incident happened on Friday. The names of the victims are undisclosed.

There had been recurring incidents of extrajudicial killings of civilians in the region since the government started military operation in August 2023. Human rights organizations from the country and abroad have confirmed reports of extrajudicial killings in the region.

Ethiopian government forces have been escalating killings of civilians which political activists sees as a strategy to “drain the sea eliminate the fish”

Fano forces have been receiving an all out support from the people in the region and from some elements in the government structure.

The Ethiopian government has not remarked on the news of the latest killings of civilians in the Gondar area.
