Kebbi Police, military, and vigilantes launch joint operation to rescue kidnapped Deputy Speaker Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo.
The Kebbi State Police Command has initiated a full-scale joint operation with military personnel and local vigilante groups to rescue the kidnapped Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the abduction occurred on Friday night, October 31, 2025, around 8:20 p.m. Armed bandits reportedly invaded Bagudo town in the Bagudo Local Government Area and seized the Deputy Speaker shortly after he had observed the Isha’i prayers and was heading home.
In immediate response, the Police Command mobilized a combined force of tactical operatives, soldiers, and vigilantes. The team has been combing the suspected bandits’ escape routes and surrounding forests in an intensive search and rescue mission.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property throughout the state. He assured residents that every resource is being deployed to ensure the safe return of the lawmaker and the arrest of the culprits.
The Commissioner also appealed to the public to remain calm, stay alert, and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist the ongoing operation.
Security authorities have urged communities within and around Bagudo Local Government to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest security post to help facilitate a swift rescue.
