Edo Government gives ex-Deputy Governor Godwin Omobayo one week to return all state assets and properties still in his possession.

The Edo State Government has issued a one-week ultimatum to the former Deputy Governor, Godwin Omobayo, directing him to return all government properties and assets still in his possession.

In a statement released on Monday, officials of the state government said the directive was part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and proper management of state-owned resources following changes in the government’s structure.

The statement noted that the former deputy governor is expected to hand over all official vehicles, documents, and other government assets that were allocated to his office during his tenure.

According to the government, the move aligns with its policy to recover all public assets from former officeholders to maintain transparency and ensure that state resources are used for the benefit of the people.

“The government expects full compliance within the given timeframe. Failure to return the listed items within the one-week window may result in appropriate legal measures to recover the assets,” the statement read.

As of press time, Mr. Omobayo has not issued any public statement or response regarding the directive.
