Federal College of Education, Ofeme Warns Against Cultism, Calls for Community Support
The Management of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Ofeme, Ohuhu, Umuahia, Abia State, has raised serious concern over reports of cult-related activities allegedly involving some youths from the Ofeme community using the college environment as a gathering ground.
According to a statement from the Office of the Provost, the institution strongly condemns cultism in all its forms, emphasizing that such activities are completely against the values, regulations, and academic mission of the college. The Management made it clear that the school premises must remain a safe and secure environment dedicated strictly to teaching, learning, and character development.
The college leadership has therefore appealed to parents, guardians, traditional rulers, women leaders, president generals, religious organizations, and other key community stakeholders to collaborate with the institution in counseling and guiding affected youths. The aim, the statement noted, is to prevent further involvement in activities that threaten peace, security, and academic stability.
Management further warned that the institution will not hesitate to invoke the full weight of the law against anyone found engaging in cultism or related misconduct within the college premises. It stressed that any student implicated in cult-related activities will face immediate expulsion, in line with the institution’s zero-tolerance policy.

The Federal College of Education, Ofeme, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a peaceful, disciplined, and conducive academic environment and expressed confidence that with the support of the host community, such threats can be eliminated.
The statement concluded by urging all concerned parties to take the warning seriously, noting that proactive guidance and cooperation are vital to safeguarding the future of students and the reputation of the institution.
