The Education Ministry says it has no record of a sponsorship request for the 15-year-old Nigerian student heading to the Math Olympiad in China.
The Federal Ministry of Education has clarified that it has no record of any sponsorship request related to a 15-year-old student allegedly selected to represent Nigeria at the upcoming International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in China.
This clarification follows widespread reports on social media claiming that the young prodigy had been abandoned by the government despite qualifying to compete internationally.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry emphasized that no official communication or sponsorship appeal had been received through any recognized educational channels. Authorities also assured that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting and promoting academic excellence, especially among students participating in international competitions.

The ministry further advised members of the public to verify such claims before dissemination, urging organizers and institutions involved in academic contests to follow the proper channels when seeking support.
