A tragic fire incident in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State has claimed the life of a 103-year-old woman and left several families counting heavy losses.

The fire broke out at a residential building located on Bola Street, Oyingbo. According to a preliminary report issued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the blaze reportedly started in one of the rooms within the building before rapidly spreading to eight other rooms.

As the fire intensified, it extended to six nearby shops, destroying goods and properties estimated to be worth millions of naira. Residents and shop owners were left devastated as the inferno consumed homes and sources of livelihood.

Although the exact cause of the fire has not yet been established, emergency response teams acted swiftly to prevent further damage.

Responders included the LASEMA Rescue Team from Onipanu, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigerian Police, and other relevant agencies. Their coordinated efforts successfully brought the fire under control and extinguished it.
