Preliminary investigations by the FRSC crash team revealed that speed violation and wrongful overtaking were the primary causes of the accident. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle during the late-night journey, leading to the deadly collision.
While expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives, the Corps Marshal emphasized the need for passengers to stay alert and report reckless drivers to appropriate authorities. He urged commuters not to remain silent when they observe drivers engaging in dangerous road behavior.
Mohammed also reiterated that night travels, excessive speeding, and wrongful overtaking continue to be major causes of fatal crashes in Nigeria. He warned commercial drivers to comply strictly with traffic regulations and safety guidelines.
The FRSC boss further disclosed that the Corps will intensify its enforcement against overloading and scale up awareness campaigns to discourage night journeys across key transport corridors nationwide.
He concluded by assuring the public that the FRSC remains committed to reducing road fatalities through stricter monitoring, enforcement, and road safety education.
