The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has hailed Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for approving two major road projects the 13.1-kilometre Ariam Ring Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area and the 26-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road.
Aguocha described the governor’s move as a monumental step toward equitable development, saying it reflects Otti’s visionary leadership and commitment to transforming Abia’s infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the federal lawmaker expressed heartfelt appreciation, emphasizing that the Ariam Ring Road had been a long-standing demand of the Ikwuano people.
“Gov Alex Otti is a proven leader with a listening and attentive heart. He has heard me several times and honoured my federal constituency immensely,” Aguocha stated.
“These approvals demonstrate his commitment to balanced development and his passion for improving the lives of Abians, especially those in rural areas.”
Aguocha further noted that both road projects will boost transportation, stimulate economic growth, and enhance agricultural productivity across the state. He described the governor’s action as a clear sign of purposeful governance built on consultation, fairness, and inclusivity.
“The Ikwuano people are deeply grateful. This road will open up our communities, ease movement of goods and farm produce, and connect our local economy to the rest of Abia and beyond,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, had earlier confirmed the approval of the Ariam Ring Road during a media briefing on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Umuahia.
According to him, the project is part of the Otti administration’s broader infrastructure renewal drive, aimed at improving connectivity and ensuring inclusive growth across Abia State.
Hon. Aguocha concluded by assuring Gov. Otti of his continued collaboration and legislative support, stressing that synergy between federal and state efforts will accelerate Abia’s transformation.
“I remain committed to working hand in hand with the state government to ensure successful execution and maintenance of these projects. Together, we will build an Abia that stands as a model of excellence in governance and development,” Aguocha affirmed.
