Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has secured a decisive victory in the Anambra State governorship election, earning a second term in office. The poll, conducted peacefully on Saturday, saw Soludo sweep all 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Awka, Soludo garnered 422,664 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes.
INEC’s data shows that out of 2,802,790 registered voters, a total of 598,229 were accredited, with 584,054 valid votes cast. Election observers and stakeholders commended the process for its transparency and real-time updates through INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Although reports of vote-buying emerged in some areas, particularly in Onitsha and Awka, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of three individuals linked to the incidents. Despite these isolated cases, the election remained largely peaceful, with a voter turnout of around 21 percent.

Governor Soludo, who first assumed office in 2022, described his re-election as a “renewed mandate from Ndi Anambra to continue the journey toward transformation and inclusive governance.”
His victory reinforces APGA’s strong political presence in the state and signals continued stability in Anambra’s political landscape.
