Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti (OFR), has offered automatic employment to nine distinguished ex–National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members of Abia origin who recently received the prestigious Presidential NYSC Honour Awards.
Governor Otti made the announcement during a courtesy visit by the award recipients to Government House, Umuahia, led by the NYSC State Coordinator, Barr. Gladys Adama. He directed the State Head of Service to immediately issue appointment letters to the honorees, noting that the state had temporarily lifted its employment embargo to recognize their outstanding achievements.
“On behalf of the State Government, I hereby lift the embargo on employment to absorb the nine of you into the Abia State Civil Service. You’ve already passed the interviews, so proceed with your documentation and begin work immediately,” Otti declared.
The governor also presented the ex-corps members with a token of appreciation, urging them to maintain excellence and integrity as they begin their new roles. He praised their exemplary performance during their service year, which earned them national recognition, and commended the NYSC leadership in Abia State for nurturing such talent.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mr. Nwogu Chinomso from Obingwa LGA expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the recognition and assured him of their dedication to service. He described the governor as “a true leader and the Joshua of our time,” praying for divine wisdom as he steers the affairs of the state.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator highlighted that Abia produced the highest number of awardees nationwide, with nine honorees decorated by the President on July 29, 2025. She emphasized that most of the ex-corps members served outside the state, showcasing excellence in their various places of assignment.
