Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has extended warm congratulations to the National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party following a landmark judgement by the Federal High Court in Abuja affirming the committee’s leadership.
In a goodwill message, Governor Otti praised the committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman, and Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Secretary, describing the court ruling as a timely and encouraging development for the party. He noted that the judgement offers a fresh opportunity to restore internal harmony, strengthen unity, and reposition the Labour Party for greater political relevance.
According to the governor, the legal victory paves the way for renewed order and stability within the party. He expressed confidence that the affirmed leadership would drive internal reforms aimed at rebuilding trust, deepening internal democracy, and transforming the party into a strong platform capable of winning elections and delivering quality governance at all levels.
Governor Otti urged the party’s leadership to seize the moment to restructure and rejuvenate the Labour Party through inclusive and purposeful leadership guided by fairness, justice, and respect for the party’s constitution and core values.
He also appealed to individuals and groups behind multiple legal actions against the party to respect the Federal High Court judgement, noting that it aligns with earlier pronouncements by the Supreme Court. The governor encouraged aggrieved members to embrace reconciliation, assuring them of forgiveness and reintegration provided they commit to lawful and constructive participation in party affairs.
