Governor Soludo says detained native doctors must face trial to prove guilt or innocence before any decision on their release.
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has clarified his stance regarding the case of native doctors currently in detention. Speaking on the matter, Soludo explained that their release cannot be automatic but must follow due legal process.
According to him, the detained practitioners will remain in custody until they undergo trial to determine their innocence or guilt. He emphasized that as governor, he cannot arbitrarily intervene in a judicial process, stressing that only the courts have the authority to decide their fate.

Soludo further noted that while he acknowledges the public’s concern over the issue, his administration is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served fairly. He reassured citizens that due process will be respected in handling the case, regardless of social or cultural sentiments.
The governor’s remarks come amid growing calls from different quarters for the immediate release of the native doctors. However, Soludo maintained that accountability and adherence to the law remain his government’s top priorities.
