Rehabilitation of the Utali–Ulonna North Farm Settlement Road begins as Umuahia North leaders laud Governor Otti’s approval and RAAMP’s involvement.

Hon. Amos Chinomso, Councillor representing Umuhu Ward, has expressed deep appreciation to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, and the Executive Mayor of Umuahia North Local Government, Hon. Smart Iheoma, for their commitment to the rehabilitation of the Utali–Ulonna North Farm Settlement Road in Umuhu, Ohuhu.

The development comes after a strategic meeting held yesterday, where Mayor Smart Iheoma hosted the Abia State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mrs. Blessing Ngozi Felix, alongside officials of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) an agency under the ministry responsible for rural infrastructure enhancement.

According to Commissioner Felix, the renewed push for rural development in Ohuhu has received full approval from Governor Alex Otti. She confirmed that the Umuhu road rehabilitation project has been given the green light for immediate commencement, stressing that construction will follow internationally recognized standards. The Commissioner also thanked Mayor Iheoma for his perseverance and collaborative efforts during the approval phase.

Mayor Iheoma, in his remarks, appealed to the host communities present to fully cooperate with the contractors, emphasizing the importance of unity for the project’s smooth execution. He further urged the contractors to prioritize the employment of local youths, ensuring that the project not only improves infrastructure but also contributes to community empowerment.

The rehabilitation project is planned to stretch from Utali through to the Ulonna North Farm Settlement, a key agricultural zone in Umuhu, expected to enhance rural mobility, boost agribusiness, and improve market access across Ohuhu.
