The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has expressed deep grief over the passing of renowned evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.

In an emotional tribute released on Monday, Hon. Aguocha described the late cleric as “a true general of faith, a father in the Lord, and a cherished family friend.”

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80, was widely celebrated for his decades of unwavering devotion to God, evangelism, and humanitarian service.

“With a heart deeply touched yet full of gratitude to God for a life well lived, I join millions of believers around the world to mourn the passing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” Aguocha said. “He was a true general of the faith, a father in the Lord, and a cherished family friend.”

The lawmaker noted that the revered evangelist’s death brought both sorrow and thanksgiving sorrow for the loss of his prophetic voice and fatherly guidance, and thanksgiving for a life that exemplified selfless service and divine purpose.

Aguocha recalled the long-standing bond between his family and the Ukpai family, saying the relationship between Rev. Ukpai and his late father, Dr. O. B. Aguocha, was built on mutual faith, respect, and love for humanity.

“Our families have been connected through the years by those same values of faith, integrity, and service to God and community,” he said. “Rev. Ukpai’s exemplary leadership and deep spirituality continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Hon. Aguocha also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to find comfort in the fact that Rev. Ukpai lived a life of purpose and left behind a timeless spiritual legacy.

“As we celebrate his triumphant homegoing, I pray that the Lord will comfort his beloved wife, children, the entire Ukpai family, and the body of Christ he so faithfully served,” Aguocha concluded.

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai remains one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian figures, remembered for his global evangelistic crusades, impactful ministry, and unwavering faith.
