Voter Registration as the Foundation of Democracy

The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has called on all eligible constituents to participate in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) online voter registration exercise.

Aguocha described voter registration as the foundation of democracy and a crucial step toward securing the right to vote in the 2027 general elections.

Appeal to First-Time Voters and Card Holders

The lawmaker urged first-time voters, those who lost or damaged their voter cards, and individuals seeking to transfer polling units to seize the opportunity.

“This registration exercise is not just another routine. It is a golden opportunity for our people in Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South to secure their right to vote and ensure their voices are heard in the coming elections,” he said.

“Your Vote Is Your Power”

Aguocha stressed that active participation begins with registration, noting that no citizen should allow themselves to be disenfranchised.

“Your vote is your power, and without a valid voter’s card, that power is lost,” he added.

He also reminded constituents that the ballot remains the strongest tool for influencing governance.

Commitment to Credible Elections

The legislator reassured constituents of his continued dedication to credible elections, transparency, and effective representation. He emphasized that fair elections start with ensuring that every eligible voter is properly registered.

“We cannot afford to be passive when the future of our democracy is at stake. Let us rise to the call, register, and be ready to decide who leads us. The strength of our constituency lies in our collective participation,” Aguocha said.

Call to Youths, Women, and First-Time Voters

Aguocha ended with a strong appeal to youths, women, and first-time voters, urging them to mobilize their peers for the exercise. He noted that their active participation could shape the political and developmental direction of Abia State and Nigeria at large.
