In a dramatic move to tighten oversight on public funds, the House of Representatives has ordered the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, to produce a comprehensive breakdown of all payments made to contractors from the ₦2.4 trillion recently released by the Federal Government for nationwide projects.
Lawmakers warned that Nigeria cannot afford another era of secretive spending and uncompleted projects. They are demanding that Ogunjimi submit a name-by-name, project-by-project account of how the trillions were disbursed — including contractor names, contract values, project locations, and completion status.

Speaking during plenary, House members said this is a test of the government’s anti-corruption drive and a clear signal that parliament will hold every public officeholder accountable. They stressed that the funds must be tracked to the last naira to ensure Nigerians see real impact in infrastructure, education, health, and other critical sectors.
The Accountant-General has been given a strict deadline to deliver the report, after which further legislative action may follow. This latest directive underscores the House’s determination to expose misuse of funds and demand accountability at the highest levels.
