Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has stated that while she has aspirations for the future, she remains grounded in the present, acknowledging the uncertainties of life.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV Fast forward to 19:39, the Kogi Central senator addressed speculations about her political future, stating that any decision regarding 2027 will be determined by consultations with her family, associates, and community.
I do believe in the power of now. I celebrate the moment, and I live each day in trust. I might not be alive by 2027, even though I pray to have a long, fulfilled life,” she said.
The discussion stemmed from a political poster shared by her media team, which suggested her ambition beyond 2027. Responding to this, she described the poster as “futuristic, ambitious, and daring.”
When asked whether she plans to return to the Senate or contest for a higher political position, she remained noncommittal, emphasizing that her decisions will be guided by consultations.
“2027 will be determined based on the consultations I will have—first with my husband, my children, my family, my associates, and of course, my community. If they tell me, ‘Natasha, go ahead,’ I will go ahead. If they tell me to raise the bar and expand my political space, I will do so,” she stated.
Senator Natasha also addressed the growing confidence among her supporters, with some suggesting that she could defeat strong opponents if she were to run again. She acknowledged her rising popularity, attributing it to her efforts in educating and engaging with the people.
“I am beginning to have a new kind of followership that believes leadership can improve and that their participation can shape Nigeria’s political space,” she noted.
