The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced significant progress in the ongoing registration process for new political parties in Nigeria. Out of fourteen associations that applied, eight have successfully advanced to the next stage of screening and verification.
The shortlisted associations include:
- All Democratic Alliance (ADA)
- Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA)
- Abundance Social Party (ASP)
- African Alliance Party (AAP)
- Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA)
- Green Future Party (GFP)
- National Democratic Party (NDP)
- Peoples Freedom Party (PFP)
According to INEC, the subsequent phase of the registration process will involve an extensive evaluation and authentication of the documents and information submitted by each association.

This verification step is designed to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties (2022).

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s political system, noting that only associations that meet all constitutional and legal requirements will be approved as political parties.
