In a significant leadership transition at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), May Agbamuche-Mbu, a serving National Commissioner, has officially assumed the role of Acting Chairman.
This development follows the formal handover of duties from Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who has commenced his terminal leave ahead of the completion of his tenure.
Agbamuche-Mbu, who represents Delta State on the INEC board, is expected to oversee the commission’s activities pending the appointment of a substantive chairman. Her assumption of office marks a crucial period for the electoral body as it continues preparations for upcoming elections and ongoing electoral reforms.
