The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially appointed Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, as the Chief Examiner for Abia State in preparation for the upcoming April UTME examination.
Dr. Kalu announced his appointment during a management meeting on Tuesday, where he also highlighted recent achievements and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening both the academic and administrative standards of the Polytechnic.
At the meeting, the Rector emphasized the critical role of continuous prayers for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, acknowledging the governor’s support as pivotal to the institution’s recent progress. He further revealed that a new salary structure for staff will take effect following the current promotion exercise, assuring that management remains committed to addressing staff concerns.
In line with enhancing academic quality, Dr. Kalu disclosed plans to hold project seminars for final-year students ahead of their project defenses, a move intended to improve research standards and better prepare students for graduation.

Additionally, steps are being taken to upload the names of students with valid JAMB registration numbers to the Senate list, facilitating smooth mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
