It was my distinct pleasure to be the guest of honor in accordance to the mandate of His Excellency Dr. Alex C. Otti OFR, at the annual Students Week and Cultural Day celebration at Archbishop Charles Herrey Memorial College of Nursing Sciences,(ACHONSA) Ogbor-hill, Aba. As I stepped onto the campus, I was warmly received by the esteemed Provost, Rev. Sr. Florence Ohiagbaji, the dynamic Students Union Government led by Comrade Samuel Izuchukwu, and members of the college management team.

As the chief guest, I was treated to a vibrant display of cultural extravagance, with students proudly showcasing their rich heritage and traditions. The air was electric with excitement as Abia students, resplendent in their traditional attire, sang the praises of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s transformative leadership, highlighting his unwavering commitment to quality education.

The Provost, visibly overwhelmed with joy, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for appointing capable hands and undertaking numerous projects that have positively impacted the institution. She specifically appealed for the reconstruction and asphalting of the road leading to the institution, which I assured would be relayed to the Governor.
In my keynote address, I emphasized the importance of credible leadership, punctuality, and accountability in ensuring quality learning and student welfare. I encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, appreciate their culture, and strive for excellence, just as exemplified by the Governor’s leadership. I assured them of continued support and encouraged them to relay their concerns to the Governor.

The SUG President, on behalf of the students of ACHONSA, pledged their continued participation and support for the new Abia, expressing solidarity with the Governor for recognizing their institution. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and I am confident that the seeds of excellence sown during my visit will yield fruitful results in the years to come.
