Earlier today, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, and his amiable wife, the First Lady of the State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Priscilla Chidimma Otti joined the family of Late Mazi Sylvanus Okoro Kanu to pay their last respect to the deceased who was buried in his hometown of Amanagwu, Arochukwu LGA.
Speaking during the Church Service held at Presbyterian Church Amanagwu Parish, Governor Otti described Late Kanu, who died at the age of 72, as an elder brother whom he is well pleased and did not expect that he would pass on now. He said that it was difficult to accept the news of his death.
He urged the family to take heart noting that there was nothing they could have done to change the situation. He went on to say that the late Mazi Kanu has gone to a better place, stressing that it is not about how long but how well.
The Governor thanked the people for their support, saying that the Government is their own having fought with him for almost ten years in the struggle to liberate the State.
He encouraged the audience to stick to whatever vision they have, pray about it, and when there’s a positive signal, stay with it, stressing that if it doesn’t happen today, it will happen tomorrow or next.
The Commissioner for Industries and SME, Hon. Mike Akpara, Special Adviser Monitoring and Evaluation, Mazi Okoroafor Ugochukwu, Managing Director/CEO of Abia Micro Finance Bank, Hon. Chimereze Okigbo were among the Government functionaries who attended the burial.
