JUST IN! Gov. Otti Inaugurates ABSU Governing Council

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has inaugurated the Governing Council of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) with Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council.

Inaugurating the Council, Governor Otti challenged members of the Council to make the University one of the best universities in Nigeria.  He described the current times in ABSU and Abia State in general as an interesting times, saying that the members of the Council have been found as one of the people that would drive this transformation his administration is pursuing.

“These are interesting times for our University and without sounding immodest, I must say that for you to have found yourself as one of the people that would change this transformation, you are all outstanding.

“So, we have no doubt that you will do your best to change our University to one of the best universities in Nigeria, in fact Africa”, Governor Otti stated.

Governor Otti congratulated the Chairman and members of the Council on their appointments and expressed confidence that they would perform based on their track records.

“It means a whole lot, a lot of confidence. All of you (members of the Council) are people of integrity, people who have good records, people who we can rely on their words,” Governor Otti reiterated.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, ABSU Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu, expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the trust reposed on the appointed members of Council and pledged their dedication to deliver on the task ahead.

The ABSU Pro Chancellor, assured the Governor and the people of Abia State that the Council would work in line with the vision of Governor Otti to achieve the desired transformation of the institution.

“We want to assure you that we are going to hit the ground running today. We will leave no stone unturned. We will not fail you, we will not fail ourselves, we will not fail Abians. We are going to put in our best to turn around the fortunes of ABSU.

“We assure you that ABSU is going to become the number one school especially at the State level in the next three to four years”, Dr. Agwu assured.
