Evans, who is already serving a sentence for multiple kidnapping-related crimes, faces new legal battles as prosecutors accuse him of playing a direct role in the deaths of the officers during his notorious reign of terror. The state prosecution reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served, emphasizing that no individual, regardless of status or past convictions, is above the law.

The case has reignited public attention around Evans’ criminal history, which once shook Nigeria’s security landscape. Legal experts believe this latest development could lead to further sentencing if the court finds him guilty of the new charges.
Proceedings are expected to continue in the coming weeks as both the defense and prosecution present their arguments before the court.
