Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has launched a sharp verbal attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, questioning his relevance and influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makinde described Wike as a political figure who only became prominent in 2015 and was later expelled from the PDP in 2025. According to the Oyo State governor, Wike lacks the moral standing to interfere in the affairs of the PDP in Oyo State, given what he described as unresolved issues surrounding Wike’s role in Rivers State politics.
The governor challenged Wike to publicly account for his stewardship of the PDP in Rivers State, arguing that such an explanation is necessary before claiming any interest or authority in the party’s activities elsewhere, particularly in Oyo State.
Makinde’s remarks come amid ongoing internal tensions within the PDP, as party leaders and stakeholders continue to disagree over loyalty, leadership influence, and the future direction of the opposition party ahead of upcoming political contests.

The statement has further fueled debates within political circles, with analysts noting that the clash highlights deeper divisions within the PDP that may affect its cohesion at both state and national levels.
