The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has confirmed the arrest of five suspected human traffickers and the rescue of 24 victims at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to reports, the victims were intercepted while attempting to board flights out of the country. Shockingly, one of the cases involved a father who tried to traffic his own daughter to Baghdad, Iraq.
NAPTIP stated that the operation was part of its intensified efforts to clamp down on human trafficking syndicates operating within Nigeria. The rescued victims are currently in the agency’s protective custody, receiving necessary rehabilitation and support services.
Authorities further revealed that the suspects will face prosecution in accordance with the provisions of Nigeria’s anti-human trafficking laws.
NAPTIP also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing its commitment to ending all forms of human trafficking and exploitation.
