The National Assembly has announced concrete steps to address growing public concerns over alleged inconsistencies in Nigeria’s Tax Acts. In a bid to promote transparency and restore public confidence, the legislature disclosed plans to release certified true copies of the tax reform bills recently signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the National Assembly, the move is aimed at clearing doubts and misinformation surrounding the content of the enacted laws. Lawmakers acknowledged the concerns raised by stakeholders and emphasized that making certified copies available would allow the public, legal practitioners, and relevant institutions to independently verify the exact provisions approved by the President.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and due legislative process, stressing that the tax reforms were passed in line with constitutional procedures. It urged Nigerians to rely on official documents rather than speculation, assuring that the certified bills would reflect the authentic versions assented to by the President.
