The gathering, graciously hosted by Chief J. Ojukwu, was more than a formal occasion, it was a cultural homecoming that brought together the Ohuhu diaspora community across the United States to reconnect, reflect, and reaffirm their commitment to the development of their homeland.

Hon. Aguocha used the opportunity to brief his kinsmen on his journey and achievements since assuming office at the House of Representatives. He spoke with candor and humility, outlining critical legislative interventions, constituency outreach, and federal opportunities attracted to the region.

“I came not just to greet you but to give a full account of our stewardship,” Hon. Aguocha stated.
“In under three years, we have pushed boundaries, from education, federal job inclusion, financial aid/business support, to advocating for justice at the highest levels.”

He emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between homeland and diaspora, stating that the Ohuhu sons and daughters abroad remain a vital force in rebuilding and transforming the constituency. His detailed presentation of upcoming initiatives in Education, ICT, Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Human Capital Development drew warm applause from attendees who were visibly impressed by the clarity of his vision and the results achieved so far.

Another key highlight of the evening was Hon. Aguocha’s firm stance on the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whom he described as “a brother, a constituent, and a matter of conscience for us all.” He reiterated his tireless advocacy in the National Assembly and with key national stakeholders for Kanu’s unconditional release, assuring the gathering that “progress is being made behind the scenes, and his freedom is closer than ever.”

The event served as an important platform for diaspora engagement, with many participants expressing renewed willingness to support developmental projects back home. Hon. Obi Aguocha, in response, encouraged them to partner in building smart rural economies, support local education drives, and invest in innovation hubs that would benefit the constituency.

“The Ohuhu man is known for wisdom, integrity, and foresight,” Prof. D. Adibe, said. “In Hon. Aguocha, we see these virtues embodied. We’re proud of how he carries not just the name, but the responsibility of leadership.”

Chief J. Ojukwu, the event host, added, “This is the kind of leadership we prayed for, bold, accountable, and focused on the people. We will continue to stand with you, Hon. Aguocha.”

Other distinguished personalities present at the evening of celebration and dialogue included Dr. E. Nwosu, TPM G.O. Ndukwe, HC C. Okezie, HC H. Uluocha, Chief C. Ike, Chief O. Okonko, Chief Nnanna, Chief T. Okezie, Chief Stephen, and many others who lent their voices in praise of Aguocha’s inclusive leadership and pan-Igbo advocacy at the federal level.

The event concluded with a cultural toast to unity, development, and the enduring Ohuhu spirit, as the diaspora community pledged unwavering support for Hon. Aguocha’s vision and pledged to remain active stakeholders in the sociopolitical upliftment of the homeland.
