NDLEA dismantles international drug cartel across Nigeria, UK, Brazil, Australia & UAE, arrests 3 kingpins, seizes ₦6.4bn narcotics.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a major breakthrough in its war against narcotics trafficking, dismantling a powerful international drug cartel with networks across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.
In a high-profile operation, NDLEA operatives arrested three notorious drug kingpins suspected to be masterminds of the cartel’s operations. The raid also led to the interception of narcotics valued at over ₦6.4 billion, a move authorities describe as one of the agency’s biggest seizures in recent years.
According to NDLEA officials, the cartel specialized in trafficking large consignments of illicit substances through air and sea routes, using sophisticated concealment methods to evade security checks. The coordinated international operation was carried out with intelligence sharing between global law enforcement partners, signaling stronger cooperation in the global fight against drug smuggling.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), hailed the bust as a significant victory, emphasizing that the agency will not relent in its mission to cripple criminal drug networks threatening Nigeria’s security and public health.
This landmark interception comes amid increasing concerns over the rise of synthetic and hard drug circulation across West Africa, with Nigeria being a major transit hub. The successful operation sends a strong warning to drug barons that the NDLEA is tightening its noose and will continue to pursue them across borders.
