The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its ongoing security partnership with the United States following recent precision airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in the North West region of the country.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria confirmed that the air operations were carried out within the framework of established security cooperation and intelligence-sharing arrangements with international partners, including the United States. The collaboration, the ministry noted, is aimed at addressing the persistent threat posed by terrorism and violent extremism.
According to the statement, the partnership involves structured intelligence exchange, strategic coordination, and other forms of lawful support in line with international norms, bilateral agreements, and respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty. These coordinated efforts have enhanced the effectiveness of counter-terrorism operations, resulting in accurate strikes against identified terrorist targets.

The Federal Government emphasized that all counter-terrorism actions prioritize the protection of civilians, preservation of national unity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all Nigerians, regardless of religion or ethnicity. It stressed that terrorist violence against any community Christian, Muslim, or otherwise remains a direct assault on Nigeria’s core values and a threat to global peace and security.

Nigeria further disclosed that it continues to work closely with its international partners through diplomatic and security channels to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt funding and logistics, and prevent cross-border security threats. These efforts are also focused on strengthening domestic security institutions and enhancing national intelligence capabilities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured the public that it will sustain engagement with relevant partners and provide updates through official communication channels as efforts to combat terrorism continue.
