NAF clarifies that its C-130 aircraft’s landing in Burkina Faso was precautionary, lawful, and part of a scheduled mission en route to Portugal.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has addressed rising speculation surrounding its C-130 military transport aircraft that made an unexpected landing in Burkina Faso, stating that the move was strictly precautionary and fully compliant with international aviation protocols.
According to NAF authorities, the aircraft originally headed for Portugal on an official mission made the stop in Burkina Faso after encountering advisory conditions that required a safety evaluation. The Air Force emphasized that the landing was neither an emergency nor a violation of regional airspace rules.
Officials explained that the crew followed established operational procedures and communicated with relevant air traffic and security authorities before landing. The NAF also dismissed circulating reports suggesting diplomatic tension, urging the public to rely on verified information.
The statement reassured Nigerians that the aircraft and its personnel remain safe, and the mission to Portugal will continue as scheduled once all standard checks are completed.
