The family of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed their admiration for Hon. Obi Aguocha, who represents the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. They hailed him for his unwavering loyalty, bravery, and dedication to justice.
In a heartfelt statement released on Sunday by Prince Emmanuel Kanu on behalf of the family, Aguocha was honored as a “Loyal Defender” who has consistently stood by them when many others chose to stay quiet.
The family emphasized that Aguocha’s stance on matters concerning Nnamdi Kanu transcends mere political interests, viewing his support as a genuine reflection of his personal beliefs and loyalty.
“In a time when many opt for silence, Hon. Obi Aguocha chose family, chose truth, and chose to fight,” Prince Emmanuel Kanu remarked.
He further noted that Aguocha’s commitment stems from a place of sincerity rather than political ambition.
Aguocha has been a prominent advocate for Nnamdi Kanu, consistently raising awareness about the issues surrounding his prosecution and ongoing detention.
This commendation from the family comes as Aguocha gears up to run for another term in the House of Representatives with the Labour Party in the upcoming 2027 general election.
His candidacy as the Labour Party representative is a result of what he describes as the trust his constituents have in his performance, character, and representation.
In response to his bid for re-election, Aguocha expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the community, viewing his unopposed candidacy as a sign of confidence in his work.
“I feel great and happy that the people elected me and still affirmed me to return to the Federal House unopposed. It is a testament to what we have done, our character, and the significance of the Labour Party in Abia State,” he shared.
