An emergency security summit bringing together key political and traditional leaders of Northern Nigeria is currently underway in Kaduna State. Governor Uba Sani is hosting the joint session of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and the Northern Traditional Leaders Council (NTLC) at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, as the region grapples with worsening security challenges.

The high-level meeting is chaired by the NSGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, while the traditional leadership delegation is led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III. Both parties converged for a closed-door discussion aimed at addressing the fast-deteriorating security landscape across Northern Nigeria.

Sources at the venue indicate that the deliberations are centered on the escalating wave of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and recurring farmer-herder conflicts. These crises have resulted in significant loss of lives, mass displacement, and disruption of socioeconomic activities in several Northern communities.

The urgent meeting underscores the increasing pressure on regional leaders to adopt coordinated solutions and strengthen security frameworks in order to restore peace and stability. More resolutions are expected to emerge as discussions continue.
