Igbo youths urged to stay focused ahead of the 2027 election as Onyinye Ohuhu criticizes Cubana Chief Priest’s remarks and calls for issue-based politics.
A socio-political commentator, High Chief Raymond Ofoegbu, popularly known as Onyinye Ohuhu, has urged Igbo youths to remain focused and purposeful as the country prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, young people in the Southeast should concentrate on evaluating leadership performance rather than being distracted by divisive rhetoric or emotional political narratives.
His remarks came while reacting to comments attributed to nightlife personality Cubana Chief Priest during the City Boy Movemtour in Owerri. Onyinye Ohuhu described the remarks as irresponsible and unhelpful to the political conversation, warning that such statements could create unnecessary ethnic tension ahead of the next election cycle.
Onyinye Ohuhu stressed that the 2027 presidential race should not be framed along tribal lines.
Instead, he argued that the contest should be about the future of Nigeria and the performance of political leaders and parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, voters must evaluate leaders based on their track records, policies, and impact on citizens rather than ethnic sentiment.
He also called on young Nigerians, especially those in the Southeast, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process. Onyinye Ohuhu emphasized that personal background, social status, or labels such as “village boy” should not determine political choices. What matters, he said, is the scorecard of those seeking public office.

Encouraging civic responsibility, he concluded that the power to shape the country’s future lies in the hands of voters who are willing to stay informed, participate in elections, and demand accountability from leaders.
