Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has debunked the claim made by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, that Abia receives ₦38 billion as its monthly allocation from the Federal Government.
In a statement on Sunday, Governor Otti clarified that the figure quoted by Kalu was incorrect, stressing that Abia’s actual monthly allocation is approximately ₦15 billion.

Otti described the claim as misleading and capable of creating false impressions about the state’s financial inflow and expenditure. He emphasized that his administration operates with transparency and accountability in all fiscal matters.
“It is important to set the record straight. Abia does not receive ₦38 billion monthly. The state’s allocation averages around ₦15 billion, and every kobo is properly accounted for,” Otti stated.
He reiterated that the government’s focus remains on prudent management of resources, infrastructure development, and improving the welfare of Abians. The governor also urged political leaders to verify financial data before making public declarations, to avoid misinforming the citizens.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to openness, assuring residents that Abia’s funds are being utilized to drive sustainable development across the state.
