Governor Alex Otti pledges continued efforts to strengthen Abia’s business environment as Aba transformation and Radisson Blu, Enyimba Hotel project progress.
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to continually improve the business climate in the state as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic growth and attract investment.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from Aba Sports Club 1926 at Government House. The delegation was led by the club’s Millennium President and current 68th President, Nkene Louis Enukeme.
During the meeting, Otti emphasized that the ongoing transformation of Aba remains a top priority for his administration.
According to him, the government is focused on creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive while positioning the commercial city as a major economic hub.
He highlighted the ongoing construction of the Radisson Blu – Enyimba Hotel, describing the project as a major milestone that will elevate standards in the hospitality and tourism sector.
The governor noted that the presence of a five-star hotel in Aba would not only enhance the city’s global appeal but also encourage existing hospitality businesses to improve their services.
Otti explained that such world-class investments often create a ripple effect in the local economy by pushing businesses to adopt higher operational standards. He added that this type of competition is necessary for sustainable economic growth and improved service delivery.
The governor also congratulated Enukeme on his emergence as president of the sports club, praising him for preserving and strengthening the legacy built by his late father. Otti encouraged him to document his experiences and leadership strategies for future generations to learn from.
Earlier in his remarks, Enukeme said the visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with the governor and strengthening collaboration between the club and the state government.
He commended the administration for the infrastructural improvements recorded at the club, noting that the broader transformation across Abia reflects a shift in governance marked by fiscal discipline and renewed focus on development.
Enukeme said the recent groundbreaking for the Radisson Blu – Enyimba Hotel aligns with the government’s agenda to reposition Aba as a destination for business and tourism. He added that the club is ready to support the initiative by providing quality sports and recreational facilities, including a modern golf course, to enhance visitors’ experiences in the city.
He also outlined some of the club’s pressing needs, including the remodeling of its event hall, the provision of a fully equipped ambulance and clinic, and the installation of a fire hydrant system to improve safety and emergency response.
Top government officials present during the visit included the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu; and the Director-General of the Greater Aba Development Authority, Uche Ukeje.
