INEC confirms over 2.5M Nigerians registered for PVCs in just two weeks of online pre-registration. Find out which states recorded the highest numbers.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 2.5 million Nigerians completed their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration online between August 18 and 31, 2025, marking the second week of the ongoing pre-registration exercise.
According to the commission, a total of 2,532,062 registrations were recorded nationwide, with varying figures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
States With the Highest Registrations
INEC’s data shows that some states recorded remarkably high numbers.
Osun State topped the list with 474,372 registrations, the highest in the country.
Lagos State followed with 355,372 registrants, reflecting its population strength.
Ogun State registered 265,399 people, placing it among the top three.
The FCT accounted for 152,250 registrants, while other states with strong turnout include Oyo (128,231), Kaduna (127,852), Kogi (124,239), and Kebbi (113,884).
States With the Lowest Registrations
Some states recorded low participation compared to others.
Ebonyi had the lowest with just 490 registrants.
Enugu followed with 856, while Abia recorded 1,845.

INEC’s Position
The commission noted that the online registration exercise has continued to gain momentum nationwide. INEC urged Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that possession of a PVC remains the only valid requirement to vote in the 2027 general elections.
