The Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu presiding:

After the recitation of the First stanza of the National Anthem, the National Pledge and opening prayer, the Deputy Speaker approved the second votes and proceedings of Tuesday, January 14th, 2025.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. Communication from Mr. President:
    Decline of Presidential Assent to the Federal University of Education, Numan Establishment Bill, 2024, due to concerns found in Section 22, the 3rd Schedule of the Bill, as well as some other technical issues.
  2. Honourable Members of the South-East caucus are to meet at the Speaker’s Conference Room: 414 by 14:00.
  3. Honourable Members of the South-South caucus are to meet immediately after plenary at Meeting Room 429.
  4. (I) The National Assembly Service Commission has approved the Appointment of Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana as the substantive Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA). This follows the retirement of Alhaji Sani Magaji Tambuwal.

II. The appointment of Engr. Bashir Aminu Yero as the substantive Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly (DCNA) was also approved.



The House stood to honour the memory of late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, Member representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun state on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who passed away on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025. Until her death, Hon. Onanuga served as the Deputy Chief Whip in the 10th House of Representatives. She had earlier served as the Chairperson, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development during the 9th House of Representatives. A minute silence was observed in her honour and prayers were offered by Hon. Aliyu Madaki and Hon. Kingsley Chinda.



House Adjournment:

The House at 11:38 adjourned plenary to Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 by 11:00 A.M following a motion for adjournment moved by the Leader of the House, Hon. Julius Ihonbvere and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda.
