The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of several senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within the country’s policing structure.
In the latest promotion exercise, 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), while 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to Commissioners of Police.
The newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General include Emmanuel Christopher, former Commissioner of Police in Yobe State; Joseph Eribo, former CP in Ekiti State; and Dantawaye Miller, who previously served as CP of the Federal Capital Territory.
Others promoted to the AIG rank are Uche Henry, former Director of the National Cyber Crime Centre; Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, former CP of Ogun State; and Muhammad Dahiru, former CP of Jigawa State.
Also on the list are Dankombo Morris, former CP of Adamawa State; Bello Shehu, former CP of Katsina State; and Ibrahim Maikaba, former CP of Zamfara State.
Completing the group of newly promoted AIGs are Ahmed Musa, former CP of Sokoto State; Olohundare Jimoh, former CP of Lagos State; Simeon Akpanudom, who served at the Anti-Fraud Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos; and Haruna Olufemi, former CP of Oyo State.
The Commission also elevated 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioner of Police. The officers include Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, and Preye Egbetokun.
Others promoted are Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran, Silas Aremu, Sylvester Uzoefuna, and Magaji Ismaila.
The list also includes Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya, and Rebecca Okereke.

The promotion exercise is expected to further strengthen operational leadership within the Nigeria Police Force and enhance the capacity of senior officers to deliver improved security management across the country.
