The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially dismissed a viral social media notice claiming that its 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise would begin on September 22, 2025. The Force described the recruitment notice as “fake, misleading, and fraudulent.”
According to the circulating document titled “Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Exercise 2025”, applications were allegedly open to SSCE, OND, HND, and B.Sc. holders across various disciplines. It even listed general requirements, age limits, and an application procedure—details which the Police have now confirmed to be entirely false.

The forged document also included specifications such as:
Age limit of 18–25 years for SSCE and OND holders, and up to 28 years for HND and B.Sc. holders.
Height requirements of 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women.
Five credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
Proof of good conduct and no involvement in cult or unlawful groups.
It also directed applicants to apply online from September 23, 2025, by submitting personal and academic details, along with documents such as a birth certificate, certificate of origin, and guarantor’s form.
However, the NPF in a post via its verified X (formerly Twitter) account tagged the notice “FAKE”, clarifying it did not originate from the Force or any of its management.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) had earlier issued a warning to Nigerians, urging them to disregard unauthorized recruitment advertisements. In a statement issued by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani on August 30, 2025, the Commission reaffirmed it has not started the 2025 recruitment exercise and will announce the process officially when it is ready.
Both the NPF and PSC emphasized that aspiring candidates should rely only on verified communication channels for authentic recruitment information and ignore fraudulent online adverts designed to deceive the public.
