President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally sworn in Victor Ikeji of Abia State, Hulayat Omidiran as Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), alongside 36 newly appointed commissioners, marking a fresh phase in the commission’s mandate to promote fairness and inclusiveness in public service.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the President administered the oath of office to the FCC leadership. The event signaled the administration’s renewed commitment to upholding the principles of federal character as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
During the inauguration, President Tinubu congratulated the newly appointed chairman and commissioners, urging them to discharge their duties with integrity, patriotism, and a strong sense of national unity. He emphasized the importance of the commission in ensuring equitable representation of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic, regional, and religious groups in federal appointments and institutions.
The newly inaugurated commissioners, representing states across the federation, were also formally presented at the ceremony. Their appointments are expected to strengthen the FCC’s role in fostering inclusion, fairness, and balance in governance.
