PSC and NPF open recruitment portal for 50,000 police constables on Dec 15, 2025, with application deadline set for Jan 25, 2026.
The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of a nationwide recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to strengthen community policing and improve national security.
In an official statement signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, the Commission disclosed that the recruitment portal will open on “Monday, December 15, 2025,” and close on “Sunday, January 25, 2026.”
The PSC explained that the large-scale recruitment drive is aimed at expanding the manpower of the Nigeria Police Force and enhancing its capacity to tackle emerging security challenges across the country.
Application Process
Interested candidates are required to apply through the official PSC recruitment portal, which becomes active on December 15. The portal will contain comprehensive guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application forms.
Applicants must create an account, upload required documents, complete the online application form correctly, and submit before the stated deadline of January 25, 2026.
The Commission cautioned applicants against patronizing fake websites or individuals demanding payment, stressing that the entire recruitment process is free of charge.
Educational Requirements
For the General Duty category, applicants must have a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in GCE O’Level, SSCE, NECO, or equivalent examinations, obtained in not more than two sittings.
For the Specialist cadre, candidates must possess at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, along with a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience and valid Trade Test certificates.
General Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must:
Be Nigerian citizens by birth
Be aged 18–25 years for General Duty or 18–28 years for Specialists
Be medically, physically, and psychologically fit
Meet height requirements of 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women (General Duty only)
The PSC reaffirmed that the recruitment exercise will be conducted strictly on the basis of transparency and merit, encouraging qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation.
