Stakeholders from Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have publicly declared support for Governor Alex Otti’s future political ambition ahead of 2027, describing his administration as a turning point in the state’s development trajectory.
The endorsement took place during a large solidarity visit to the Governor at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, where more than 2,000 indigenes gathered to express appreciation for ongoing projects and appointments benefiting the Ohuhu community.
Leading the delegation was Obi Aguocha, the lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency. He said the visit was both a show of gratitude and a reaffirmation of confidence in Governor Otti’s leadership.
According to him, the administration has positively reshaped governance and restored hope across Abia State.
Aguocha highlighted key appointments of Ohuhu indigenes into strategic roles, including Chief Victor Ikeji as Federal Commissioner representing Abia at the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Chinenye Mba Uzoukwu as Principal Secretary and Chief Strategist to the State Government, and Sir Chris Onwuegbu as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information.

Despite the commendations, the stakeholders outlined pressing infrastructure concerns requiring urgent government intervention. Top on the list was the rehabilitation of the Ohuhu Ring Road and the reconstruction of Okpara Road linking Amaogwugwu, Umuagu, Ofeme and extending toward Isuikwuato. They stressed that improving these routes would significantly boost economic activities and ease transportation challenges in the area.
The delegation also called for the revival of the Ulonna North and South Farm Settlements established by the late Eastern Nigeria Premier, Michael Okpara, noting that restoring the agricultural settlements would enhance food production and rural employment.
Several prominent leaders addressed the gathering, including former Niger Delta Development Commission Chairman Onyema Ugochukwu, Chief Uzodinma Okpara, and Umuahia North State Constituency representative Mr. Anderson Akaliro. They commended Governor Otti for upgrading the Michael Okpara Auditorium into a modern facility and praised interventions at Ohuhu Community Secondary School and other development projects.
However, they expressed concern over persistent water shortages in the community. The stakeholders appealed for the urgent resuscitation of the Ohuhu Regional Water Scheme and the completion and activation of the Ohuhu General Hospital located at Umuegwu Okpuala, originally built during the Michael Okpara era.
In his response, Governor Alex Otti thanked the people of Ohuhu for their endorsement and solidarity. He acknowledged the contributions of community leaders and assured residents that the Ohuhu Regional Water Scheme has been included in the 2026 state budget.
The Governor further disclosed that rehabilitation of the Umuahia Regional Water Scheme would soon commence, while work on the Aba Regional Water Scheme has reached about 80 percent completion. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring potable water supply across Abia, emphasizing his vision of returning the state to an era where households enjoyed consistent running water.
