The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha has stirred national attention with a bold and faith-driven declaration regarding the prolonged detention of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In an emotionally charged statement released today, Hon. Aguocha expressed strong optimism about Kanu’s imminent release, stating that divine intervention is at hand.
“This day, mark my word. By His grace, in a very shortime from now, our brother and my constituent, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, will walk out from detention only by and to God’s glory,” he said.
Describing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ordeal as a “drawn-out journey of love for his people,” Aguocha noted that the struggles and calls for Kanu’s freedom have not been in vain and urged Nigerians, especially those in the South East, to remain hopeful and prayerful.
As part of a spiritual push, the federal lawmaker called on all peace-loving citizens to dedicate 20 minutes of prayer this coming Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 7:00 PM (WAT) for the release of Kanu and restoration of unity and calm in the region.
“Sacrifice only 20 minutes of your time; wherever you are in the world. In the comfort of your personal space, pause and pray for peace and the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Aguocha urged.
He also encouraged people to amplify their voices by uploading their prayers and messages of hope across all social media platforms, noting that “heaven must hear our collective determination.”
The statement, deeply spiritual in tone, reflects Aguocha’s ongoing commitment to a political resolution of the legal impasse and his belief in the power of faith.
As the countdown begins for the determination of the expedited trial, supporters and political watchers across the nation are keeping a close eye on developments.
