Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has appealed to young people across the South-East to actively consider careers in the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and other national security agencies. According to the governor, greater youth participation in these institutions is essential for national unity, regional inclusion, and long-term stability.
Governor Soludo emphasized that the Nigerian Civil War ended more than five decades ago and should no longer be cited as a reason to excuse violence, insecurity, or disengagement from national responsibilities. He noted that the country has moved forward and that all regions, including the South-East, have a vital role to play in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
The governor highlighted that enlisting in the armed forces and other security services offers young people legitimate career paths, skills development, and opportunities to serve the nation with honor. He added that increased representation of South-East youths in security agencies would also help build trust, improve intelligence gathering, and foster peace in the region.
Soludo urged community leaders, parents, and educators to encourage youths to see national service as a positive and dignified contribution to Nigeria’s future. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement as the most effective ways to address grievances and promote development in the South-East.
