According to the governor, the unexpected withdrawal of police personnel created tension and posed a security risk during the event meant to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. He stressed that such an action undermines public trust in security institutions and could have endangered lives.

Governor Yusuf called on President Tinubu to take immediate action by replacing the Police Commissioner with an officer who will prioritize professionalism and the safety of Kano residents.
The governor further reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, while urging federal authorities to ensure that politics does not interfere with the role of security agencies.
