Abuja, Nigeria – The push for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has gained renewed momentum, with a key figure, Honorable Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives, playing a pivotal role in the ongoing negotiations and advocacy.
Honorable Aguocha, who represents Kanu’s federal constituency, has taken a personal and official interest in the matter, viewing it as his responsibility to advocate for Kanu’s freedom and address what he describes as injustices within Nigeria’s criminal justice system.

Successful Visitation: A significant breakthrough was achieved in September when Aguocha facilitated the first successful visitation between Nnamdi Kanu and his legal team. This was a crucial step, given previous difficulties in accessing the separatist leader.
Engagement with Authorities: Aguocha has detailed extensive efforts, including formal communications with the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) and a tripartite meeting involving the Speaker of the House and the Director-General of the SSS.
