President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.
The appointment takes effect from January 10, 2026, and is for a four-year tenure. Dr. Odusote will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose second term as Director-General ends on January 9, 2026, after eight years of service.
Dr. Odusote, 57, currently serves as the Deputy Director-General of the Nigerian Law School and heads the Lagos Campus. Her elevation reflects decades of distinguished service, academic excellence, and leadership within Nigeria’s premier legal education institution.
An accomplished legal scholar, Dr. Odusote earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the same university, with specialization in company and commercial law. She later completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, focusing on public law and the administration of justice.
She joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since held several strategic positions, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus. Her academic exposure includes a stint as a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Odusote has an extensive publication record in respected local and international law journals and has presented scholarly papers at numerous legal education conferences. She has also contributed to legal policy and development through her service on committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.
