President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of several prominent Nigerians into strategic leadership positions, in a fresh move to deepen inclusive governance and promote regional equity across the country.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, reflect the president’s ongoing commitment to his Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at ensuring balanced representation across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
According to a statement from the Presidency on Saturday, more appointments are expected in the coming days, particularly from the northern region, as the Tinubu administration intensifies efforts to strengthen national institutions for effective service delivery.
Sen. Ken Nnamani (Enugu) – Chairman, Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS)
H.E. Philip Shaibu (Edo) – Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Sports
Omobolanle Akinyemi Obe (Ondo) – Director-General, National Senior Citizens Centre
Dr. Segun Aina (Osun) – Director-General, Academic Staff College of Nigeria
Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim (Ebonyi) – Chairman, National Merit Award Committee
Mr. Ayodele Olufemi (Kogi) – Executive Director (Monitoring and Implementation), Nigeria–São Tomé Joint Development Authority
Babaranti Ayandayo Rasheed (Osun) – Executive Director (Finance and Administration), Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC)
Hon. (Dr.) Asabe Vilita Bashir (Borno) – Director-General, National Centre for Women Development
Sen. Jalo Zarami (Yobe) – Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission
Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu (Nasarawa) – Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission
Momoh Jibril (Kogi) – Board Member, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)
The appointments cut across various sectors including sports, policy, academia, gender development, housing, and population management.
President Tinubu emphasized that the selection of these individuals was based on merit, proven track records, and their capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development.
